Alright, I admit it. I'm one of those guys who loves futuristic car & truck designs. I drive a truck myself, a gas guzzling Ford F250 as I've literally broken every other smaller vehicle I've had by plowing all of our roads and driveways here in the Adirondacks. So, I'll probably always be stuck with a big truck, and look forward to the day that we facilitate the session that helps arrive at a better fuel solution for these things.
In the meantime, I'm inspired by this concept from Adam Schacter Design LTD. What's really interesting is the way he tilts the bed up & down, and that it stays functional in all configurations. My next challenge for him is to see if he could figure out how to attach a plow to it, or a HIGH SPEED snow blower.
Now. Why would I bother to blog about this? Here's the coaching:
Keep stimulating your brain with things that might help you make novel connections. I don't think I'll ever be a car & truck designer. But, my brain is now thinking about a storage solution (the truck bed) that works at multiple angles.
In our house, out here in the Adirondack boonies, we have both an upright deep freezer, and a chest style deep freezer. Why two? The upright is for day to day use and the convenience of being able to easily see what's in it (things get buried in the chest freezer) The chest freezer is for things that are larger like chickens, bears and such (yes, really). The advantage of a chest freezer is efficiency. When you openthe top, all of the cold air doesn't spill out the bottom like on an upright. What if we took
the concept of bed design that Adam Schacter is using and applied it to a freezer in some way so as to get all of the benefits of both designs, but with one compressor.
Hmmm.
Probably a crazy idea, but that's where my brain goes when I ask "What other ideas does that truck bed make me think of?"
Remember this: Innovation comes from creativity inside of smart project management and mature team interaction. Creativity comes from previously unconnected thoughts. To get those new connections, you need to feed your brain. So find some yummy brain food today and send it in via your ears and eyes. If it's especially yummy, send it to me. My brain is a glutton for newness.
That's totally awesome and very interesting. Truck load with Brain food is a great idea!
